Partial Google Reader Syncing

You can now sync you feeds with Google Reader. To activate it simply go to the Settings page, enter your Google username and password, check the Google Reader Syncronization box, and Submit. An initial sync will pull in everything you currently have in Google Reader and upload your subscriptions in FeedsAnywhere.

Any subscription changes made in FeedsAnywhere will be immediately applied to Google Reader. For the reverse we'll periodically poll Google Reader to make sure you haven't subscribed or unsubscribed to feeds there. You'll also notice that renaming a feed in Google Reader will cause the feed name to change in FeedsAnywhere.

It doesn't stop with subscriptions though. Any item marked read or unread, starred or unstarred, or explicitly marked interesting will also be reflected in Google Reader. At this point these items are all a one way street where your actions in FeedsAnywhere will be reflected in Google Reader, but not the other way around. This support is planned, but not yet implemented. Also not that only items marked by you are interesting will be labeled as such in Google Reader. Eventually any item scored that way will be marked as well, but I haven't gotten that far yet.

UPDATE (2010/02/02): Only feed syncing is currently supported. We had to change how feeds were fetched and a new mechanism is needed to identify the unique Google ID for each item before read status, star, and tag syncing can be reenabled.

I hope you enjoy the new features.
