I modified the initial loading of feeds get the main page displayed more quickly and the items are then populated asynchronously. In addition to returning the page more quickly you'll also notice that the current page number being viewed is present in the URL as a hash. Forcing a reload will now return you to the same page.
Sorting, Previews, and Changing Views
Submitted by chadm on Fri, 03/05/2010 - 21:07If you reload FeedsAnywhere you'll notice a new icon near the top right of the page. Clicking slides open a menu that opens up access to new sorting options and the ability to turn Title View previews on or off. There are also options for changing the view and which items are being shown.
Other new features are in the works for your reading pleasure, but hopefully this little bit of added control will help when the defaults get stale.
Faster Page Turning
Submitted by chadm on Fri, 01/22/2010 - 21:54My recent focus has been on improving the speed and responsiveness of FeedsAnywhere. To that end I modified the interface to use more Ajax style loads rather than always refreshing the entire screen. Other elements (like unread counts in the menu) will appear after the page has been loaded vs. having to wait for them to complete first like you did before.
Partial Google Reader Syncing
Submitted by chadm on Sun, 11/08/2009 - 20:36You can now sync you feeds with Google Reader. To activate it simply go to the Settings page, enter your Google username and password, check the Google Reader Syncronization box, and Submit. An initial sync will pull in everything you currently have in Google Reader and upload your subscriptions in FeedsAnywhere.
pubsubhubbub and rssCloud
Submitted by chadm on Sat, 10/10/2009 - 18:33pubsubhubbub and rssCloud is now enabled for user's who decide to publish their interesting feed. This should help those who want to use other feed readers at times to have their content be more timely.
For now this support is as a publisher only. I still need to figure out how I want to implement it on the aggregator side.
New Front Page Look
Submitted by chadm on Tue, 08/18/2009 - 14:03We just finished rolling out some updates to the front page, feature tour, and faq pages. The pages have a constrained width for easier viewed, but remain scalable to smaller screen sizes.
We also addressed a few minor bugs and inconsistencies.
More Mark All Read Options
Submitted by chadm on Fri, 08/14/2009 - 17:23I added a few options the Mark All Read link. After clicking it you have to select "Yes" to actually go through with it since there isn't an undo, but now you also hav the option to mark only those items read that are older than one week, one month, or three months.
Making Logins Last Longer
Submitted by chadm on Fri, 07/31/2009 - 21:15Previously, FeedsAnywhere would required relogging in between visits if your cookie expired or was removed, which could be a real pain when accessing the site using a phone. You should now see an improvement with logins lasting for much longer if you click the Remember Me link when logging in. If any of you have any problems please let me know.
A Better Title View Experience
Submitted by chadm on Thu, 07/09/2009 - 01:40I spend most of my time using Title View and one thing that has consistently annoyed me is opening an item only to have to scroll around a lot so I can read it. I had previously looked into fixing it, but could never quite figure it out. Well that finally changed this week,
Now when you click an item to expand it a check is made on how tall the item is an scrolls the page so it either all fits or it's at the top of the page. It's a simple change, but hopefully one that will help you read entries more efficiently.
Improved Interface Scalability
Submitted by chadm on Mon, 06/29/2009 - 18:48From the beginning one of the primary goals of FeedsAnywhere has been to have a single interface that can scale for any size screen, but we recently hit a snag with one feature. As we were optimizing for a couple popular phones (Apple iPhone and BlackBerry Storm) we introduced some code that scales all images so they fit the width of the screen and don't introduce a horizontal scrollbar. The great news was that it worked on the phones in question, but didn't work with a desktop browser like Firefox or Opera.
